#5: Corpora, Concordance, Collocations, Word Frequency

Check out the following sites and report back on how they could be used to inform materials development and classroom instruction:

In this site, teachers can analyse text and then identify vocabulary items for teaching and learning.
They also can expend vocabulary knowledge; meaning in different contexts, word families, collocation, register, grammatical associations, and so on.

ex) Online concordancers

A concordance gives a list of several words, phrases, or distributed structures along with immediate contexts, from a corpus or other collection of texts assembled for language study.

Wordle: spoken corpus 2


I've made a wordle from an article "spoken corpus comes to life". Visual texts helped me understand the main point. It occured to think wordle can be a good tool for pre reading. Students can guess what the story is going to be about or the tone of the story. so, I've read a lot of suggestion from English teacher using wordle. Everything sounds good. But, I have a question. If I don't have a digital copy of the text? I'm not sure typing reading material is an effective way.

It would be better encourage students to use wordle post writing activity. They can analyze their writing and discuss the topic each other.
